Not an event. A way of living.
Istok began as a festival. It became something more — a community of over two thousand people who found, in a field in Northamptonshire, the thing modern life keeps taking away: stillness, nature, and each other.
Today Istok is always alive. Seasonal retreats in nature, smaller community gatherings through the year, mindful wellness sessions, children's groups, and a flagship festival each summer. And a growing dream of a permanent home on the land — a place where this way of living never has to pack down.
Our roots reach into Slavic folk tradition — fire, song, seasons, and the old ways of gathering — and our arms are open to everyone. People come from many countries and cultures, and find the same spirit waiting.
"Istok" means source in the old Slavic tongues. That's what we are building — a source you can keep returning to.
WHY ISTOK EXISTS
The world got loud. We made a quiet place.
So many of us are living disconnected — from nature, from community, from ourselves. Istok is our answer.
LONELINESS & DISCONNECTION
Real connection has become rare. We create spaces where strangers become community — around fires, in circles, over shared days rather than passing hours.

Meditation, talks, creative practice, and space to think slowly again.
NO ALCOHOL - CENTRED CULTURE
Most social life is built around drinking. Istok proves joy, celebration, and belonging don't need it — every gathering is fully alcohol-free.
Body
Yoga, movement, sauna and cold water, rest, and days lived outdoors.
LIVES LIVED AWAY FROM NATURE
Screens have replaced sky. We open rural land and green space to families and individuals who otherwise have little access to it.

Every retreat we hold, we build and unbuild a village. Our dream is a place where it never has to come down. Rooted in Northamptonshire, we are searching across the Midlands for our permanent home — a place where nature connection lives all year.
